I’ve always had a love for entertaining and an entrepreneurial spirit. When asked, I say that as the Carnival Lady I truly have the best job in KC. Who else gets to have conversations about Giant Hamster Balls, Mechanical Bulls, Moonwalks, Super Hero face painting and chocolate cotton candy all in one day?
With approximately 20 employees and over 100 entertainers, my team performs over 1300 company picnics, school carnivals, church festivals, block parties and private events each year. We perform inflatable rental and event planning all over the Kansas City area and Midwest. This couldn’t be accomplished without the help of my husband Kevin running the warehouse, a great team of drivers and fabulous office staff. Our most notable clients include the Royals, Chiefs, Cerner and Power & Light Family Fun Days, just to name a few.
How did I get started? When I had my last child, I wanted to find a way to work from home. With a background in dance I started doing birthday party appearances as a ballerina or different characters. It quickly turned into needing inflatables for private events. I found there was a huge need for a reputable and safety conscious company who could provide inflatables for large events. As my children grew, so did my business. Through the years I bought out a few other local companies to increase my inventory and I also attend an annual convention to see the latest and greatest equipment to further expand our unique selection of inventory. This enables me to serve a variety of clients. With this large variety of fun services we are able to meet your specific needs with themes, catering, tents, tables, chairs and event unique entertainers like fire eaters, stilt walkers and even hypnotists.
What differentiates Creative Carnivals & Events from the competition? Safety and personnel would be my top two answers. Safety…there aren’t any real regulations on the design of equipment, so I am careful to only purchase pieces that I feel are safe. I’ve even redesigned pieces to include extra safety features which add to the purchase price of the units, but it’s worth every penny. Personnel…our drivers are all background checked and cleared to be around your children. No other company takes this extra step. Also, we do a complete walk through at your event to ensure you have full knowledge of the equipment or we can provide adult uniformed attendants (no teenagers) to ensure safety at your event.
Who knew 33 years ago doing balloon decorating and dressing up as the Easter Bunny for churches would lead to thousands of events performed all over the Midwest? I’m one of those lucky people whose passion turned into a successful business.
